Cover crop species and mycorrhizal colonization on soil phosphorus dynamics

چکیده

Phosphorus (P) plays an important role in the physiological plant processes; however, tropical soils, P is one of most limiting nutrients for crop yield due to its low mobility, determined by adsorption this element soil. To enhance P-use and P-acquisition efficiency, research aimed evaluate effect cover crops mycorrhizal colonization on changing soil fractions, both organic inorganic. A complete randomized block design was adopted a field experiment, with four replications using crops: i) pigeon pea ( Cajanus cajan ); ii) crotalaria Crotalaria juncea iii) millet Pennisetum glaucum iv) brachiaria Brachiaria ruziziensis ) v) fallow, as control. The arbuscular fungus colonization, fungal spore density, fractionation, N, P, K uptake were assessed. Our results show that affected cycling deeper layers. Cover may increase inoculum potential succeeding rotation or intercropping, when used green manure.

Effects of mycorrhizal roots and extraradical hyphae on N uptake from vineyard cover crop litter and the soil microbial community

The objectives of this study were to evaluate the contribution of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungal hyphae to N uptake from vineyard cover crop litter (Medicago polymorpha), and to examine the soil microbial community under the influence of mycorrhizal roots and extraradical hyphae. Mycorrhizal grapevines (Vitis vinifera) were grown in specially designed containers, within which a polyvinyl ch...

Effects of season and soil conditions on the mycorrhizal status and colonization of seven grass species. Mahmood Ghorbani*, Jalil Khara and Nasser Abbaspour

In this study seven plant species were collected from the forest of Arasbaran located in the northwest of Iran. Sampling was conducted in May and August and roots were used for calculating vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizal colonization percentage during the same period. Fine roots were separated, washed and put in FAA solution as a fixative. Through the time, root colonization of all plant speci...

Carbohydrate allocation patterns in citrus genotypes as affected by phosphorus nutrition, mycorrhizal colonization and mycorrhizal dependency

Among closely related citrus genotypes growing in high phosphorus (P) orchard soils, there is a tendency for less mycorrhizal-dependent (M-dependent) species to have lower rates of root colonization than more M-dependent species. We hypothesized that the less M-dependent the citrus species the more limited is their carbohydrate (CHO) allocation to the M fungus. In a glasshouse study at low and ...

Remote sensing of crop residue cover and soil tillage intensity

Management of plant litter or crop residues in agricultural fields is an important consideration for reducing soil erosion and increasing soil organic C. Current methods of quantifying crop residue cover are inadequate for characterizing the spatial variability of residue cover within fields or across large regions. Our objectives were to evaluate several spectral indices for measuring crop res...

Effects of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and Soil Conditions on Crop Plant Growth

We investigated the effects on various crops of inoculation with species of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in soils from different sources and selected AMF species suitable for domestic environment-friendly farming. Effects on plants varied with the AMF species used. In carrot, Scutellospora heterogama, Acaulospora longula, and Funneliformis mosseae had a positive effect on growth of the ho...
